In view of the statement made by CJI Bobde in concern to the need of getting rid from robes and gowns as a precautionary measure for COVID-19 spread, the Competent Authority of the Supreme Court has issued direction for the same.
In a circular issued today, the Supreme Court has said that on receiving medical advice, it is relaxing the dress code for Advocates appearing before the Court via video conferencing.
It was mentioned that Advocates may wear ‘plain shirt/ salwar-kameez/ saree’ along with plain white band until the medical exigencies exist/ further orders.
Earlier today, CJI in a video-conferencing has hinted on the changing of Dress Code as part of the strategy plan to cop with the pandemic spread.
