On Friday, the High Court of Madras directed the Bar Council of India as well as the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu & Puducherry (BCTNP) to respond by Monday to a writ petition seeking a direction to enrol law graduates in the State Council through videoconferencing due to the ongoing Coronavirus lockdown.
A Division Bench, comprising Justice N. Kirubakaran & Justice R. Pongiappan, also directed counsel for the BCI to get specific instructions on the possibility of postponing the last date for submitting applications for the
All India Bar Examinations (AIBE) since it was mandatory to mention the Bar Council enrolment number in the applications.
S. Harikrishnan, 24, of Tiruvarur district, had filed the writ petition. His enrolment to BCTNP couldn’t take place due to the lockdown.
