Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed the nation on the coronavirus pandemic and announced that the whole country will be put under lockdown from 12 pm tonight for a period of 21 days.
He said every Indian contributed for making ‘Janata curfew’ a success.
“You all deserve to be admired for success of Janta curfew on March 22,” he said.
“Cornavirus has made many powerful countries helpless; challenges are increasing despite all efforts,” he said.
“Social distancing not only for infected but for every citizen including the prime minister. If we will be negligent towards observing social distance India will have to pay heavy price,” Modi said.
The prime minister announced nationwide lockdown from 12 pm tonight for a period of 21 days and said it is like a curfew and would be more stringent than the Janata curfew.
“From 12pm tonight there will be complete lockdown in the entire country. This lockdown is in a way a curfew and would be more stringent than Janata curfew,” he said.
“We may have to pay financial cost for this lockdown but it is important for safety of people. This nationwide lockdown will be for 21 days beginning 12 pm tonight,” he said.
