The Supreme Court today exempted lawyers and petitioners-in-person from filing petitions on A4 size paper in light of the difficulties faced due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
The Apex Court had earlier made it mandatory for all filings to be made on A4 size paper starting April 1 this year. However, it has now decided to grant exemptions to this rule, owing to the difficulties faced by the members of the Bar and others in the wake of the lockdown.
It was also mentioned that all cases filed before April 1 this year may be refiled using A4 size or legal size paper. It is also specified that the exemption from using A4 size paper is granted up to June 15 this year.
The exemption will only be granted in cases where lawyers or parties-in-person file an application seeking exemption to use A4 size paper specifying the circumstances to seek such exemption.
