AILET 2020 Exam to be held on Aug 18th via Remote Proctoring

As per the latest update, National Law University Delhi, or NLU  Delhi has issued a revised notification confirming that the institute level entrance exam i.e. AILET 2020 i.e. All India Law Entrance Test 2020, will be held on 18th August 2020. In addition to this, the law varsity has also revised or removed the 50% domicile based reservation policy announced earlier, in line with the recent Supreme Court Judgement. The notification also clarified that the entrance exam will be held as a remote proctored test for all the candidates, during which candidates will be able to write the AILET exam at home but their tests will be invigilated.

AILET 2020 As Remote Proctored Test

According to the details shared by NLU, the All India Law Entrance Exam 2020 will be held as a remote proctored test by the NTA. The National Testing Agency has been roped in to hold the AILET 2020 examination and other details about the examination will be provided soon by the agency. As of now, NLU Delhi has announced the exam date i.e. 18th August 2020 and the time i.e. morning shift from 11 am to 12:30 pm. To help students familiarize themselves with the remote proctored test format, NTA will be holding two webinars providing all the necessary details along with one mock test ahead of the entrance test.

50% Domicile Based Reservation Scrapped

As expected, NLU Delhi has decided to scrap the 50% domicile based reservation policy it has proposed earlier, after Delhi High Court struck it down earlier. The revised notification issued today reads “in view of orders passed by Hon’ble Delhi High Court” and in consequence, the original seat matrix has been rolled back for three programmes – five-year BA-LLB, one-year LLM and PhD.” Following the issuance of new notification, NLU now doesn’t provide reservation to residents of Delhi, Other Backward Castes and Economically Weaker sections in its admission process.

Important Dates as per AILET 2020 Revised Notification

Along with scrapping the domicile based reservation policy introduced earlier, the institute has also allowed candidates to withdraw their applications made so far on the basis of that clause. The option to withdraw AILET 2020 application forms will be available between 1st to 7th July 2020. Apart from this, candidates willing to apply afresh can also submit their AILET application till 7th July 2020. Following the completion of this process, NLU Delhi will issue AILET 2020 admit cards on 27th July 2020.
