The National Informatics Centre (NIC) has dropped the advertisement banner of the Central government carrying an image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the foot of official emails sent from the Supreme Court’s official email id.
The same was done after the Supreme Court had written to the NIC to remove the same since the image had no connection whatsoever with the judiciary.
An official notice in this regard was issued by the Supreme Court though the notice does not mention the nature of the image which was being appended to its emails.
“Late last evening it was brought to the notice of the Registry of the Supreme Court of India that the official emails of the Supreme Court of India were carrying an image as footer which has no connection whatsoever with the functioning of the Judiciary. National Informatics Centre, which provides the email services to the apex Court, was directed to drop that image from the footer of the emails originating from the Supreme Court,” a clarificatory note by the Supreme Court said.
Supreme Court also directed NIC to use the image of Supreme Court of India which has now been complied with.
