Delhi HC and Lower Courts to remain Functional in June to make up for loss of Working Hours due to Lockdown

On Thursday, the Honb’le Full Court of Delhi High Court Judges in consultation with the DHCBA has decided that the High Court and District Courts shall function fully and normally during the summer break of June in order to make up for the loss of Court working hours due to the Lockdown observed in concern to the Novel Coronavirus.

Another areas of concerns, in view of which the Court has taken up the decision are the severe hardship faced by the litigants due pandemic COVID-19 and to mitigate difficulties being faced by the litigating public.

It was observed in the meeting:’In modification of the resolution of the Full Court dated 16.9.19, declaring the period of the Summer vacations for this Court and the Courts subordinate thereto in the month of June 2020, the Honble High Court and courts subordinate thereto shall continue functioning during the entire month of June i.e. from 01.06.2020 to 30.06.2020.’

The EC has appealed to the Members of the Bar and the Legal Fraternity to co-operate in this time of emergent National Crisis.

The High Court currently is taking up ‘extremely urgent matters’ via video-conferrencing to keep up with the social distancing code.
